With all the hype around Facebook & Twitter, many organizations are forgetting about a very important B2B social networking platform – LinkedIn.
LinkedIn has been around since 2003 – a lifetime in the social networking space. (technically it started in 2002 but launched in 2003)
Although some don’t consider LinkedIn a pure social networking play, for me its a social networking platform albeit very different to Facebook.
Just some numbers to give you a perspective:
- A new member joins LinkedIn approximately every second, and about half of the members are outside the U.S
- LinkedIn has over 70 million members in over 200 countries
- Executives from all Fortune 500 companies are LinkedIn members
So what is LinkedIn worth a second look?
Definitely and if its B2B you are looking at focusing on there is no better place.
With a strong membership base of professional and educated members, it’s a powerful platform to promote your company and to do a myriad of other things such as recruitment, getting free consulting by using the crowdsourcing power of getting members to help you out with a problem.
