Facebook Now Targeting Behavioural Search
The Facebook vs Google Search battle continues to heat up with the latest from Facebook.
Facebook has just won a patent for an algorithm that is based on the interests and clicks of a user’s friends and extended network/s.
This patent has been 6 years in the making, but getting approval now. How this relates to the bigger strategic picture of Facebook and integrating search and other technology such as location based advertising remains to be seen.
What is a reality though is that Facebook is forging ahead with trying to turn Facebook into the defacto web. Will Google eventually loose out to users opting to use Facebook as their starting point for surfing the web and other activities, top of the list is search – I for one am not quite sure.
